"Autism Speaks pledges to promote solutions across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan for the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, and their families, through advocacy and support, and increasing understanding and acceptance. Alpha Xi Delta’s support for this organization is founded in the dedication to service, friendship, and support that Autism Speaks offers to millions of affected individuals and their families. We are proud to support such an amazing organization that is focused on the same things that we are: realizing the potential of every human being." -Philanthropy Vice President
ALPHA DELTA PI
"Service to us in Alpha Delta Pi is something that is more than just a word or an action, but it is a part of us as a chapter. We are women who are committed to making ourselves and the world a better place. We believe that service can occur in small actions every day that make a large impact overall. Our international charity is the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home for families of sick children in the hospital; they offer food, shelter and a support community for all families free of charge. RMHC has a house in Hershey, Pennsylvania; we visit together and volunteer by cooking meals and talking with the families staying at the house. This past year has been extremely exciting for us as a chapter. We ran an incredible volleyball tournament with Phi Kappa Tau to raise money for RMHC and their charity, Children’s Health Network. This coming fall we will be hosting our annual Casino Night where all proceeds go to RMHC and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. In addition to raising funds for RMHC, our chapter has its own scholarship fund. In 2014, our sister Elana Stein passed away. Our chapter, in cooperation with the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, began a scholarship fund in her honor. The scholarship will be awarded to a sister who embodies Elana’s spirit. We hold a pop-up shop with South Moon Under every semester to contribute to the scholarship." -Philanthropy Chair
"Kappa Delta’s philanthropies are the Girl Scouts of America and Prevent Child Abuse America. What makes service to these organizations special is that we get the chance to work hands on with the Girl Scouts to inspire confidence among them and ourselves. Part of our service to PCAA is working with the Lehman Center, which is a local organization, so a majority of the money we make at our philanthropy events go right back into the community of Lancaster, which is meaningful to me. Both of our philanthropies inspire me to be a more confident and compassionate person, and I’m very lucky to be able to work so closely with the organizations that my chapter supports.
